REFLECTION
Earning a Prestigious Global Distinction
The Global Learning Medallion Program has allowed me to enhance my global awareness, global perspective, and attitude of global engagement. It not only has provided me the opportunity to stand out as an International Relations and Political Science student by providing me with invaluable skills and experiences, but most importantly, it has definitely broadened my horizons and perspective of the world as a whole. Through my years at FIU, my study abroad opportunity, and my participation in the Global Medallion Program, I have been able to learn what being a global citizen actually means. These experiences have expanded my desire to fulfill my objective of doing my part in aiding in the development of peaceful solutions to international problems. My wish is to be someone who not only has public awareness, but also active participation. I want to be someone who makes it a goal to help as many as I can and learn as much as I can in order to find new ways to improve and transform this world for the better.
My undergraduate experiences here at Florida International University have inspired me to continue my academic endeavors through graduate school in order to further my research and education and make meaningful contributions to the field of development studies. Through my various experiences with the global community that FIU has provided me, I continue my path to become involved in the field of international affairs and development, specifically in the areas of peace, global governance, and human rights, but I can now do it with a new sense of confidence and a desire to help various communities. I have been blessed with various opportunities through my global learning courses, interactions with global leaders and fellow classmates, study abroad experience, and participation as an Executive Board Leader in two different organization, to think differently and outside the box. As mentioned before, from all these experiences, my global engagement passion emerged.
My plans after graduation is to re-locate to Washington D.C. to continue my academic endeavors by pursuing a master's degree in International Development with a focus on Ethics, Peace, and Human Rights. My career goals would be to gain knowledge and skills that can be used towards future endeavors in this field. By doing this, I hope to put in to practice the lessons I have learned during my time at FIU and continue to further enhance my global awareness, global perspective, and attitude of global engagement, in order to make a positive impact on this world. I urge any FIU student who is in search for ways to get involved, enhance their resume, or broaden their academic experiences to consider participating in this program
