Positions of Leadership
SIGMA IOTA RHO
During my undergrad career at Florida International University I was able to hold a position as part of the executive board of Sigma Iota Rho, Beta Rho Chapter, a nationally recognized International Studies Honor Society. Sigma Iota Rho's mission is to promote and reward scholarship and service among students and practitioners of international studies, international affairs, and global studies, and to foster integrity and creative performance in the conduct of world affairs. I was able to gain amazing leadership and professional skills as a CSO Representative for the honor society. Skills that I will take with me into my professional career.
PUERTO RICAN STUDENT ORGANIZATION
The Puerto Rican Student Association (PRSA) was established to serve as a platform of integration, networking and support of the Puerto Rican diaspora at FIU and within the FIU community. I had the opportunity to join in at the formation of this group as the Event Coordinator in the executive board. Part of the purpose of this organization is to further social integration of those displaced after Hurricane Maria and to promote diversity and innovation through the Puerto Rican culture. This organization's aim is to participate in multicultural events in order to foster a sense of community. As a Puerto Rican who is currently living and studying outside of her island, the Puerto Rican Student Association certainly became my home away from home.
